David Peace
For those who go to novels seeking comfort or
consolation David Peace does not come recommended.
For those looking for something original he is indispensable.
Garan Holcombe 2008
In a major coup for the Ashbourne Festival, their featured author this year is the controversial and highly acclaimed David Peace. The film release this month of The Damned United, adapted from his novel on Brian Clough’s 44 days at Leeds United, would be enough to attract substantial local interest, but Channel 4’s critical and successful adaptation of his Red Riding trilogy, adds further interest to his appearance here. David Peace must be one of the most talked about authors this year, placed as early as 2003 in the top 20 British writers and already a likely of Bafta nomination for the TV series currently running.
During this eagerly anticipated event, David will be talking about ‘fictions and facts’ in his work, as well as giving an exclusive reading from his new book Occupied City, the second book of a trilogy based on the US occupation of Japan.
